PRESS RELEASE
2026 Local Elections: ARCIGAY SALERNO Raises the Issues of Rights and Inclusion in Conflicts with ACCARINO (CAVA DE' TIRRENI), GUIDA (POSITANO), and STRIANESE (SAN VALENTINO TORIO).
Arcigay Salerno continues to bring the debate on issues of rights, inclusion, and the fight against discrimination to the municipalities of the province in view of the upcoming administrative elections on May 24 and 25, 2026.“We felt it was important to bring to the province's territories some issues that we believe cannot be considered secondary in the public and administrative debate: the fight against discrimination, the rights of same-sex families, gender affirmation processes and the strengthening of health prevention and protection activities.”, declares the President Emanuele Avagliano. “For us, it's essential that the protection of rights and the development of inclusive policies encompass the entire province. Arcigay Salerno works daily as a local and provincial garrison, and we believe it's important that these issues are heard and addressed in all municipalities participating in the elections.”, continues Avagliano.
In recent weeks, the Arcigay Salerno Territorial and Provincial Committee sent the mayoral candidates in the 21 municipalities of the province involved in the local elections a document containing the association's themes and proposals on the rights, inclusion, and protection of the LGBTQIA+ community. To date, the candidates who have expressed willingness to discuss and listen to the Committee are: Giancarlo Accarino for the city of Cava de' Tirreni, Gabriella Guida For Positano And Michael Strianese, former mayor and candidate again for the leadership of Valentine's Day Torio. “We welcomed the attention and willingness shown by these candidates to address the issues raised by our association. It is important that these concerns be addressed not only in large urban centers, but also in other cities in the province, so that rights, inclusion, and the fight against discrimination become an integral part of future local government policies.”, declares the President Emanuele Avagliano.

Arcigay Salerno also recalls some dialogue experiences developed with Pasqualina Garofalo, candidate for the City Council of Valentine's Day Torio, and from Mariavita Amendola, candidate for the City Council of Positano, in the respective comparison paths developed by the association in the territories. "“With Pasqualina Garofalo, we have a strong relationship of dialogue and closeness on social issues and inclusion, while with Mariavita Amendola, we have developed a positive and constructive dialogue on rights and the fight against discrimination. We believe it is positive that opportunities for listening and discussion on these issues are developing in different regions.”, declares the President Emanuele Avagliano.
“Rights are built through daily presence, listening, and concrete relationships with communities. We will continue to work to ensure these issues remain central to public debate and future administrative actions.”, conclude Avagliano.
