May 30, 2026 – Onda Pride 2026, the major demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national associations, continues with four marches today in Cremona, Alessandria, Enna, and Padua, following yet another legal victory: the Constitutional Court has recognized the right to a survivor's pension for same-sex couples who married abroad and in which one partner died before the Italian law on civil unions came into force. "Today we have one more reason to take to the streets," commented Gabriele Piazzoni, Secretary General of Arcigay. "We celebrate yet another historic ruling by the Constitutional Court, which breaks down a final barrier, one that was particularly odious because it often targeted older people, who, in a sense, were being made to pay for their pioneering work. From today, LGBTQIA+ people who have experienced the loss of a loved one, with whom they had built a stable family plan by taking advantage of foreign laws long before Italy adopted civil unions, will be granted the right to a survivor's pension in our country. We know that, as is always the case in Italy when it comes to rights, the issue should not be considered over, and that there will be those who do everything they can, especially the government, to limit the ruling's impact. We will be vigilant, but in the meantime, we invite everyone to join us today at the Pride marches in Cremona, Alessandria, Enna, and Padua to celebrate.".
Here are the dates to join the parades: Cremona Pride has scheduled the rally for 3:00 PM in Piazza Stradivari, Alessandria Pride will meet at 4:00 PM in Viale della Repubblica at the station gardens, Enna Pride will meet at 5:00 PM at Castello di Lombardia, and Padova Pride will depart from Piazza De Gasperi at 3:00 PM.
