Three years ago, on April 23, 2018, the University of Palermo adopted the alias career path for transgender students: a procedure that allows those who have not changed their name to experience university spaces with greater safety.
A great result, achieved by Arcigay Palermo together with the UniAttiva Coordination, which today, however, is still not sufficient to meet the needs of students.
The procedures, in fact, are not easily accessible to trans and non-binary people who are not undergoing hormone treatment and do not have the relevant reports from psychologists and endocrinologists.
We hope that the University of Palermo will adapt to the new regulations as soon as possible. guidelines of the National Conference of University Equality Bodies Italian universities, as more and more Italian universities have done and are doing, respecting self-determination, towards a complete depathologization of trans identities.
