A two-year memorandum of understanding was signed today between Arcigay Palermo, chaired by Mirko Pace, and Uil Palermo, led by Gianni Borrelli. The shared goal is to protect rights and take action to combat discrimination and intolerance based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, which can occur both in the workplace and in other areas of social life.

The protocol outlines the goals, shared objectives, mutual commitments, areas of intervention, and the forms of collaboration that will be established between Uil Palermo and Arcigay Palermo.
"Following the agreement, the first in Italy, signed two months ago in Syracuse," says Grazia Mazzè, Equal Opportunities Coordinator for Uil Sicily, "we are continuing our goal of building bridges with local associations to raise awareness of the services this union makes available to everyone.".
“"In a historical moment characterized by job insecurity and the erosion of rights," says Ana Maria Vasile, secretary of Arcigay Palermo, "the synergy between human rights associations and unions is particularly important. This is a strategic agreement, which for us marks the beginning of a shared and concrete process of raising awareness and training UIL union members, with the aim of reaching LGBTI workers and precarious workers to better protect their rights.".
