The pandemic has hit, and is still hitting, incredibly hard. The pain of the victims (how many fewer could have been achieved with adequate public healthcare?) is compounded by the difficulties caused by the economic crisis and the widespread unease caused by "frozen" social life.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS
Verona is a city rich in diverse social networks and spaces that for decades have addressed issues such as the environment, precarious employment, immigration, anti-racism, anti-fascism, anti-sexism, rights, inclusiveness, social relations, and culture. These are places and people who, often out of the spotlight, contribute to fueling debate in the city on issues that are crucial to social life.

A DIFFICULT CONTEXT
But Verona is also an affluent city where, despite solidarity networks, life can become very difficult. The most vulnerable and the voiceless are often destined to remain so, while institutions have repeatedly demonstrated their inaction to counter the homophobic, sexist, racist, and often openly fascist attitudes prevalent in the city.

LIVING REALITIES TO BE SUPPORTED
In this context, it is even more important to support social organizations and spaces that often have to stand on their own two feet and are now experiencing serious difficulties due to the paralysis caused by the pandemic and its containment policies.

So far, thanks to self-assessment and—in rare cases—agreements with tenants, we've been able to meet rent and utility payments. But the renewed shutdown after the summer and the uncertainty about how long it will last are severely testing our financial and self-financing capabilities.

We want to give a future to our activities, from our service activities (help desks, libraries, etc.) to our political and cultural activities, to the support we have provided, are providing, and will continue to provide to the most vulnerable segments of the population, even during this time of emergency.

We are people, realities and relationships that

– they bring Verona's social spaces to life,

– make the city richer and freer from a social and cultural point of view

– they combine volunteering, self-management, and community building

– I am an active part in promoting a different and more equitable world, a world that is even more necessary in a period where only the worst nightmares seem to dominate. .

We're reaching out to those who already know us, those who have walked a path with us, and those who share our ideas and our activities.

But we also address those who do not yet know us, but think of diversity as a common enrichment, inviting them to discover our realities and support them.

We want to continue to give Verona a different face. For this, we need all of you. .
WHO WE ARE

Pink Circle , the historic headquarters of the Verona movement, founded to support LGBTQ+ people. Today, it houses a dedicated help desk for LGBT migrants—Pink Refugees—and addresses their life challenges, from legalization to full awareness and self-determination as LGBTQ people. The offices also host meetings for Non Una di Meno and Potere al Popolo.

Not one less – Verona , is a feminist and transfeminist movement that aims for radical transformation of society, starting with the fight against male and gender-based violence. Active in Verona since 2017, it holds sit-ins, meetings, and demonstrations (such as the one against the World Congress of Families), as well as the "Io ti Credo" legal helpline, supporting those who have suffered gender-based violence.

Power to the People – Verona , an anomalous party, capable of interacting with movements, which proposes a vision of society that is not centered on the pursuit of maximum profit, and which offers a social assistance desk.

The Sobilla , is a laboratory of ideas and practices free from institutional and commercial sponsorships, offering book presentations, seminars, screenings, and exhibitions. It is also home to the historic Giovanni Domaschi Library, Fuorimercato-Autogestione in Movimento (Fuorimercato-Self-Management in Movement), and the L'ombroso information point. La Sobilla is co-organizer of the Brutti Caratteri Independent Publishing Festival.

Info-space 161 , an information point housing the movement's paper archive managed by the G. Bertani Documentation Center; it promotes young artists from the underground scene and hosts a rights desk to support migrants and the homeless.

Paratodos Self-Managed Laboratory, an artistic factory, a political workshop, a space for freedom, gathering, and exchange. Open to the neighborhood, the city, and the world. Among its activities: a pizza-making course for asylum seekers, an Italian language school, and a social service desk. It hosts the Jacovacci Popular Gym, the Teatro Popolare collective, and the Tango Social Laboratory. During the lockdown, it activated SOS SPESA (Spending Assistance) for families in need.

Sat-Pink Verona and Padua Trans/Transgender Reception Service, since 2011, has responded to the needs of transgender and gender-variant people and supports them in their transition process thanks to the presence of approved professionals in the psychological, medical and legal fields.

Planet Milk – Verona LGBT Center arci-arcigay , Arcigay headquarters, a meeting place and services for the LGBT+ community: courses, thematic library and video library, psychological counseling service, helpline, thematic groups, sexpert counseling, and rapid STD testing.

In addition to launching this crowdfunding campaign, we intend to initiate a political effort to reclaim the fundamental function our spaces serve. We intend to assert our right to exist before the city and its institutions, as open and inclusive organizations, places of encounter, listening, discussion, participation, and the concrete exercise of democracy and solidarity with the most disadvantaged. We carry out political and cultural action, in the broadest sense of the term, which enriches the city, filling, among other things, the many gaps and inertia of the institutions themselves.
