We are amused to read the Curia's statements following a speech by Catholic jurists regarding the upcoming City Council discussion of the resolution on the Civil Unions Registry.
To imagine that the Registry could open up to the "polygamous family" is a fantasy unsupported by either local administrative instruments or national legislation. The Registry is not marriage, but at the local level it can be a useful tool for those deprived of rights due to the lack of a national law.
Marco Mori, President of Arcigay Milan, states: "We are concerned about the behavior of the Milanese curia. Always at the forefront of the most vulnerable, including immigrants of other religions and customs, today they are exploiting and exploiting them to defend anti-historical and dogmatic positions on the family.
Catholic lawyers shouldn't be lecturing the City Council, but solving the tragedies plaguing the Church, both in finance and in cases of pedophilia that are always underreported. They should lecture the CEI. These gentlemen must resign themselves: the era of equality that will lead to marriage for homosexual couples is near. Indeed, and I smile, the day will come when gay parents will ask to be able to baptize their children—in short, a nice baptism with two dads and a godfather—and then even the bishops will have to resign themselves. Neither civilization nor the future will be stopped.”
