Pride Wave: Six cities to be traversed by Pride parades today

June 25, 2016 Six Pride marches will pass through six Italian cities today, bringing the pride and demands of the LGBT community. The demonstrations are all part of the Pride Wave, the large-scale national mobilization for the rights of LGBTI people convened by Arcigay together with other associations of the homosexual, lesbian, and transgender movement. "From north to south, including the islands, we bring a wave of rights, freedom, and pride," said Gabriele Piazzoni, national secretary of Arcigay. "We are in the midst of the calendar of mobilizations that make up this year's Pride Wave: we invite everyone to join the marches in the six cities that will bear witness to a battle that has lasted almost 40 years and that every year draws strength from a multitude of people. Our lives will once again be paraded in the light of day, despite those who would like us to be cornered, invisible and forgotten." The meeting point is in Milan at 3 pm in Piazza Duca d'Aosta, where the procession will depart and reach Piazza Venezia (www.milanopride.it); in Bologna, however, the procession will start at 4pm from Cavaticcio Park with the long procession that will reach the two Towers, in via Rizzoli (www.bolognapride.it); pride celebration also in Perugia, where the rainbow community has been animating the Pride Village in the Frontone Gardens since yesterday and until tomorrow (www.perugiapride.it); in Latina, instead, the Lazio Pride makes its debut, which has set its gathering at 5pm in Piazzale Gaetano Loffredo (www.laziopride.com); first time also for Caserta which at 4pm will start its procession from Piazza Luigi Vanvitelli (www.casertapride.it); finally, appointment in Cagliari with the Sardinia Pride: departure scheduled for 6pm in via Sant'Alenixedda, in front of the opera house (www.sardegnapride.com).

The Pride Wave is paired with the #EverybodyPride campaign, which launches the slogan "diversity makes us equal." The campaign was designed by artist and designer Angelo Cruciani, who also created the flashmobs for the Milan Pride and Svegliatitalia marches. The images are by the young Spanish director and photographer Sergi Planas, who has been working in Italy for a year.
