IoVoto24: Arcigay's mobilization for the European elections

[:it]

A recent research by the University of Verona has found that The LGBTQI+ community declares, referring to the last elections, a higher abstention rate of 6% than the general population. A worrying sign, which Arcigay intends to address.

IO VOTO is a campaign to empower the LGBTQI+ community and its allies to vote in the upcoming European elections, conceived and produced by Arcigay in media partnership with Gay.it. It is a GOTV campaign (“Get Out To Vote!) that wants to use our community network to spread a call to vote, to convince those who are in doubt but also to support those in difficulty, those who need help and support to exercise their right to vote.

The history of the LGBTQI+ movement rests on two pillars: on one side the revolt, the Pride, on the other the paths of speaking out in institutions, from Harvey Milk to Franco Grillini, to the unforgettable pioneer Marcella Di Folco. Both of these practices – the revolt and the institutional path – have led the LGBTQI+ community to make important achievements over time.

This is why that 6% increase in abstentions worries us.

The campaign moves with a very simple mechanism, which is a challenge: eight to eight, bring 8 people to vote with you on June 8th. To make this mobilization stronger we ask people to visit our channels and become campaign ambassador, that is, take up this challenge alone or in a circle of friends and let us know so that we can support this commitment with ready-made materials and tools.

If you want to support “Io VOTO” you can write to us at [email protected].

We're counting on you!
