The President of the Province of Milan, the Honorable Ombretta Colli, has announced the granting of the Province of Milan's Official Patronage to the gay/lesbian/trans Pride event scheduled for June 21st in Milan. The communication of the Patronage, received today by the Coordinamento Arcobaleno (GLT), recognizes the importance of this initiative which, as stated in the letter received, "aims to raise awareness in society of respect for the values of democracy, freedom, and equality." As in the past, President Colli has demonstrated a particular sensitivity to the needs and rights of the gay/lesbian/trans community, and the Coordinamento Arcobaleno (GLT) thanks her for this. We look forward to other important public officials, particularly at municipal and regional level, finally realizing that they also represent this large community, whose only distinctive feature is having a different sexual and emotional orientation or identity.
