«The history of homosexuality is also the history of homosexuals' self-rejection: out of fear, the need for survival, to defend a social image, because ultimately society makes them feel dirty. The homosexual has inevitably absorbed all the hatred that the dominant culture has developed and expressed it with the same rejection, internalizing homophobia. One way to express this homophobia today is to use the category of the private as an ideal dimension for one's own emotional sphere. But the homophobic use of the private sphere makes one invisible, and invisibility dispossesses the bearer of rights. This is what militant homosexuals have been doing in recent decades: making themselves visible, first and foremost, as a fundamental political tool for developing rights. A new year free of judgment and prejudice, in which honesty, consistency, and fairness will prevail, for the proper protection and extension of fundamental rights, first and foremost the right to happiness, without discrimination of any kind.
