Gianpaolo Gobbo, the Northern League mayor of Treviso, today offers us a refined sociological analysis worthy of the best Padanian hard-line thinking.
According to statements, the mayor vows that, as long as he is in office, Treviso will never host the Pride parade. The event is considered excessive and damaging to the libido of children and adolescents because it offers "an exaggerated model that can be very negative for young people, who already suffer from a decline in libido and sexual desire due to the internet, TV, and pornography. There is already a clear crisis between the two sexes, to which it is wrong to add ostentation and extremism.".
Gobbo, however, adds that Pride shows that “someone can do whatever they want, and that’s not good: flaunting diversity at all costs as if it were a gift is reverse racism.”.
We remind Gobbo, who evidently interprets his institutional office like a crude medieval feudal lord, that Treviso is not his property and that his words do not impede a demonstration of rights and freedoms such as Pride: the right to demonstrate is enshrined in the Constitution of the Italian Republic.
From this point of view, Treviso deserves a Pride parade, as do all Italian cities governed by individuals who dream of a world painted green, possibly without any kind of "different" nuances.
Europride, in Rome from June 1st to 12th, will demonstrate, once again, that the provocations, the declines in libido, the ostentation, and the provocations are only in the minds of those who refuse to accept the fact that homosexuals, lesbians, and transgender people are citizens just like everyone else, and that their full equality is a victory for civilization and the maturation of our democracy.
