The Municipality of Battipaglia (SA) is promoting an awareness campaign against homophobia. "Liberi Tutti 2011," a review of gay, lesbian, and transgender literature, is underway.
Equal Opportunities. For All! is the slogan of the first awareness campaign against homophobia promoted by the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Municipality of Battipaglia (SA) and supported by the city's Youth Forum.
The campaign involves posting posters throughout the city on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia. The poster's image—two men's joined hands with the words "Equal Opportunities. For All!"—formally launches the gay, lesbian, and transgender literature festival "Liberi Tutti 2011," conceived by journalist Pasquale Quaranta and promoted by the City's Equal Opportunities Commission. The event will take place on May 27, June 17, and June 24 at the Town Hall in Piazza Aldo Moro.
On the opening day, May 27th at 6:30 PM, speakers will include: Francesco Gnerre, author of The Denied Hero: Homosexuality and Literature in Twentieth-Century Italy (Baldini & Castoldi); Giuseppina La Delfa, president of Famiglie Arcobaleno, an association of gay parents; and Antonello Sannino, president of Arcigay Salerno.
Following on June 17th: Delia Vaccarello, author of Evviva la neve. Vite di trans e transgender (Mondadori), with the participation of Paolo Patanè, national president of Arcigay.
Finally, on June 24th, Chiara Lalli, author of Buoni genitori. Storie di mamme e papà gay (Il Saggiatore), will be presenting, along with Martina Castellana, president of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Province of Salerno.
“"Our goal," says Marika Calenda, president of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Municipality of Battipaglia, "is to facilitate the participation of all residents in political, economic, cultural, and social life, within a framework of freedom, justice, and solidarity.".
“"Liberi tutti 2011," says Pasquale Quaranta, curator of the literary festival, "offers a reflection on the rights of homosexual and transgender people so that democracy can also be at home in Battipaglia.".
Liberi tutti 2011 is an initiative created in collaboration with the Aut Aut cultural association of Battipaglia, with the Legambiente Battipaglia-Bellizzi “Vento in faccia” circle and with the support of Luigi Longobardi's Elementi Creativi communications agency.
