We learned from his blog that Mario Adinolfi has left the Democratic Party. So for a confirmed homophobe to leave the party, one gets one.

Now, the protests from the internet community have been followed by a lively debate and a timid step back from Baldacci, which unfortunately doesn't please anyone.

How much longer will a peaceful discussion and dialogue within the Democratic Party on homosexuality, respect, and rights be postponed? These are issues that a party that calls itself reformist and European should have digested long ago...

SAN MINIATO: TORMENTED DEBATE ON FACEBOOK SAN MINIATO "EVEN IF he were, it would be the least of his flaws." These words were let slip on Facebook, which has become a huge hub for debates, announcements, and important positions, by Massimo Baldacci, secretary of the Democratic Party municipal union in San Miniato. These words were directed at one of the ten politicians accused of being gay from a list published anonymously and defamatoryly, so much so that an investigation was opened. These words immediately sparked some debate on the social network, although Baldacci quickly corrected his words: "Probably because I wanted to craft a catchy sentence, I expressed myself poorly. I didn't mean to say that being gay is a flaw, but only that, if it is, that is precisely the least of the countless and very serious reasons to criticize him." Someone then had fun adding fuel to the fire: "Well, you haven't improved the situation! Better to say that if he's gay, that's the only thing he can't be criticized for, because that would be his business." The "case" could have sparked an even more lively debate, but the fact that it happened on a Saturday, and a beautiful Saturday in real summer, was a real drag. Almost all the local politicians who gravitate towards Facebook were at the beach...
