Salerno Campania Pride 2012 presented

The program for Salerno Campania Pride 2012 was presented this morning in the Salone del Gonfalone of the City of Salerno. The event kicks off on May 12th at 5:00 p.m. at the former Salid building with a conference on "Homocausto," and the following day with the participation of Platinette. The Pride will conclude with the final parade on May 26th. Vladimir Luxuria will be the patroness of the parade.

Presenting the regional event, which will be held this year in Salerno, were City Councilor for Culture Ermano Guerra and Councilor Angelo Caramanno, delegated by Mayor Vincenzo De Luca to oversee the event's organization; spokespeople Antonello Sannino and Giuseppina La Delfa; and Culture and Events Director Lorenzo Forte. "The administration," said Councilor Guerra, "will create the best conditions to ensure this event is a success. And I'm not just referring to the final parade on May 26th, but also to the events, seminars, performances, and initiatives planned at the former Salid, which represent the most interesting aspect because they will address the civil rights that Pride advocates for at the national and local levels.".

Our goal is to raise awareness among all local governments, including our own. Indeed, the De Luca administration has expressed a full, shared, and unreserved welcome. Salerno is a welcoming city, culturally open to discussing any topic without reservation or prejudice.

“"Salerno is ready to host this event," reiterated Councilor Angelo Caramanno, "and participants will embrace the event's serious spirit." Antonello Sannino also confirmed his full agreement with the De Luca administration: "We thank them," he said, "for providing the LGBT community with this opportunity. The message emanating from Salerno and spreading throughout the province is the need to engage in discussions on civil rights issues that involve not only the LGBT community but also precarious workers, immigrants, students, and women.".

The choice to hold Pride in Salerno is no coincidence. "The Campania Pride coordination team," adds Giuseppina La Delfa, "has chosen to move beyond the big cities and begin engaging with smaller towns, where people are sometimes less accustomed to engaging. This is certainly not the case in Salerno, where we've already achieved our first victory with the opening of the first anti-discrimination help desk at the University of Fisciano." "It's almost a miracle that we've managed to put together all these events with zero financial resources," concluded Lorenzo Forte, "so I want to thank the many volunteers who help us profusely. However, I ask the entire city to make an effort: to contribute even a small amount of money to the success of the event.".
