Giacomo Deperu is the new president of Arcigay Udine.

Giacomo Deperu is the new president of the Arcigay "Nuovi Passi" Committee of Udine and Pordenone. He was elected last night at the Udine association's congress, which met to elect the new officers who will lead the association, founded in Udine in 1990 and one of the first in Italy, for the next three years.
Forty-three years old, from Spilimbergo (Pn), a graphic designer, Deperu had already held the position of vice president of “Nuovi Passi” and now succeeds the previous president Daniele Brosolo, who led Arcigay Udine for the last six years.
“"It is an honor and a burden," the new president declares, "to hold such a significant position. I feel a strong responsibility to work for a cause of civility that belongs to everyone and that demands, now more than ever, finally achieving the expected results. Arcigay Nuovi Passi," Deperu continues, "has been a regional point of reference for LGBT people in Friuli and for the fight for their sacrosanct rights for over twenty years. This is a Friuli that has changed thanks also to the commitment of dozens and dozens of volunteers who, often in complete anonymity, have contributed to building a culture of civility. Along this path," he promises, "we will seek to meet new challenges and new successes.".
Thanks to outgoing president Daniele Brosolo, who, despite his young age, represented the association for six years, leading an exciting and fruitful period of initiatives, campaigns, and projects. Finally, best wishes to the entire new board, as we look to the future of the Arcigay Nuovi Passi Udine and Pordenone committee.
The new board, composed of seven members plus the president and vice president, will reflect the diverse interests and needs of its members (over 2,000 in Udine and Pordenone): from schools to health issues, from youth issues to issues dedicated to the less young, from contributions offered by parents of homosexuals to more strictly political issues, also in view of the upcoming municipal, provincial, regional, and national elections.
And it is on this front too that Arcigay is ready to renew itself. During the provincial congress held in Udine, representatives of the two congressional motions that will be presented at the next congress, scheduled for November 23-25 in Ferrara for the election of the new national president, also took part. The three delegates assigned to Arcigay Udine, also elected yesterday, will also participate in the congress.
