Commemoration 20 Years After the Death of Paolo Seganti

Paolo Seganti was brutally mutilated and killed because he was gay on July 11, 2005. near his home in the Montesacro district of Rome, in the Parco delle Valli. In 2007, Mayor Veltroni dedicated Largo Paolo Seganti to Paolo Seganti, the first street in Italy named after a victim of homophobia.

Following Paolo's tragic death, the LGBT+ community reacted with a large demonstration in the Capitol, which led to the founding of the national toll-free number Gay Help Line 800 713 713, now also the Contact Center of the Municipality of Rome managed by Gay Center.

The commemoration is organized by the Municipio III of Rome Capital, with the patronage of the Municipality of Rome. The event will be held on July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Largo Paolo Seganti, Valleys Park, Rome.
