Transphobic posters in Bergamo: the city council remains silent. Our anger is legitimate.

Bergamo wakes up today with the streets soiled by transphobic, obscurantist and violent posters, signed by groups sadly known for their activism against the rights of LGBTQIA+ people.

Posters that attack trans people, their journeys to self-determination, and the right to inclusive education, spreading ignorance and fear.

❌ All this with the complicit silence of the municipal administration, which has permit the posting of this hate propaganda in its public spaces.

? We ask ourselves:

  • Where is the much vaunted democratic sensibility?
  • Where is the respect for constitutional values?
  • Where is the commitment to a school that educates and does not discriminate?

? AND unacceptable that a municipality that professes to be "inclusive" instead opens the doors to toxic, false, and dangerous content for adolescents, families, and teachers.

⚠️ This poster is just yet another piece of the puzzle of a well-orchestrated national campaign that:

  • criminalizes sexual and emotional education?
  • Is he attacking respect for differences?
  • undermines school safety for all

? And the Municipality? Instead of opposing, it becomes a megaphone for this regressive ideology.

Arcigay Bergamo Cives: our position

We ask:

  • Immediate removal of the posters
  • ?️‍♀️ An internal investigation on how was it possible to authorize all that
  • ?️ A position public and concrete of the Mayor, not the usual facade posts

⏳ A few days after the Bergamo Pride and in the month of pride, We do not accept that the city is invaded by messages of hate.

? The institutional presence at the parades is no longer enough for us.

We demand:

  • Consistency
  • Taking responsibility
  • Political courage

? We remind the Municipality that Article 3 of the Italian Constitution states:

“All citizens have equal social dignity and are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinion, personal and social conditions.”

When allowing the public posting of messages that denigrate gender identity, democracy is trampled upon.

Being anti-fascist, anti-racist, and inclusive is not an election campaign slogan: it is a daily political responsibility.

? If the Municipality is not able to guarantee spaces free from hate, At that time we will make our voice heard.

⚡ Our anger is legitimate

?️ Our voice will not be silenced

We're tired of fake smiles and unfulfilled promises.

? Not a step backWe will respond with mobilization, with presence, with the truth.

For every trans person.

For every student.

For every teacher who believes in a free school.
