From the media reports on the sad stories of child sexual abuse, as well as from various studies on the subject, it is not clear that these individuals have a predilection for minors of their own sex; on the contrary, quite the opposite.
‘The sexual orientation of the pedophile is absolutely irrelevant nor characteristic of his squalid inclinations.
I consider the above statement offensive to homosexuals and unfounded. This specification could also lead to the conclusion that homosexuals have a strong pedophilic component, which is absolutely not true.
The parallel between paedophilia and homosexuality is absolutely incorrect and, in the way it is presented in the pamphlet, it is misleading, placing a focus on homosexuality which, I repeat, is not justified by statistics which see the majority of cases of paedophilia as the 'appalling activity of heterosexual people.'.
I therefore strongly urge you to correct or delete the above statement to avoid further inconvenience to those who already suffer, unjustifiably, from acts of discrimination by a fortunately ever smaller portion of the population.
