Secular thoughts on families

Sunday, June 3 – 3:00 PM
The Rainbow Coordination of Milan's lesbian, gay, and transgender associations invites citizens to an afternoon of outdoor lessons:
With greetings from Margherita Hack, astrophysicist, Trieste
Matteo Winkler, jurist, Bocconi University, Milan
Daniela Danna, sociologist, University of Milan
Michele Saporiti, philosopher, University of Bicocca, Milan
Valerio Pocar, sociologist, University of Bicocca, Milan
Today's society presents a variety of emotional nuclei. For example, there are civilly married couples, straight or gay couples with and without children. There are singles, traditional families with LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, and transgender) daughters and sons. There are LGBT parents who have had children in previous relationships or through assisted reproduction.
Our world is diverse and requires a culture of equality, diversity, and respect.
The Vatican expects its exclusive support for the traditional family to translate into Italian state policies that deny civil rights to anything that differs from the single, imposed model.
The Milan Rainbow Coordination Group reminds us that the Italian state is a secular and sovereign state, with a duty to respect and recognize all citizens.
The day will also feature the Rainbow Family Festival (which had previously been postponed due to bad weather) with the “Piccolo uovo” show, the Forgotten Game Academy for children and the free distribution of informational material produced together with Legambiente.
From a secular and pluralistic Milan, on June 3rd, new families are studied.
