CGIL and Neapolitan LGBT Associations for Holocaust Remembrance Day

This morning, the Neapolitan LGBT associations I-ken, Arcigay Napoli, Arcilesbica, and ATN, along with the CGILCampania and the Naples Chamber of Labor, placed a wreath of pink tulips beneath the plaque at the entrance to the CGIL headquarters on Via Torino in Naples, in memory of the victims of homosexual persecution. "The commemoration of this day, in memory of the extermination and persecution suffered by the Jewish people, the Roma and Sinti population, people with disabilities, homosexuals, and transgender people," declared Federico Libertino, Secretary General of the Naples Chamber of Labor, "represents our commitment to uphold the values of solidarity and dignity for all, regardless of race, gender, or political orientation." "This day, which we commemorate together with local LGBT associations, before the plaque we unveiled last year to commemorate the Holocaust," the CGIL Campania and Naples secretariats emphasized in a statement, "is intended to be an invitation for everyone to work together to build a better society that rejects and combats indifference and all forms of discrimination.".

“"Today's initiative," stated Alessandro Calemme, vice president of the I-ken Napoli association, and Antonello Sannino, president of the Arcigay Antinoo Committee of Naples, "is part of the important collaboration that exists between Neapolitan LGBT associations and the CGIL, with which we will share other initiatives in the coming months." "This year's Holocaust Remembrance Day," the representatives of the LGBT associations continued, "coincides roughly with the Russian State Duma's decision to extend to the entire Russian territory a law that punishes homosexual propaganda, effectively banning any public expression of the situation of homosexuals themselves.".
