Ancona, Monterotondo, Lipari, Forlì, La Spezia, Taranto, Turin, and Viterbo rally for LGBTQIA+ rights.
June 6, 2026 – The Pride Wave, the major demonstration in support of LGBTQIA+ rights organized by Arcigay and other local and national organizations, is ramping up with eight events today across Italy. The Ancona Marche Pride march will gather at 4:00 PM at the War Memorial in the Passetto area. Near Rome, the Monterotondo Pride parade will meet at 3:00 PM in Piazza Baden Powell. The Eolie Pride march will depart at 4:30 PM from Marina Corta in Lipari. Forlì Pride will depart at 5:30 PM from Piazza Saffi. La Spezia Pride will gather at 4:30 PM in Piazza Brin. Taranto Pride will meet at 5:15 PM in Piazza Fontana. Turin Pride will meet at 2:30 PM at Parco del Valentino. Finally, the Tuscia Pride (Viterbo) starts at 3:30 PM from Porta Romana. The demonstrations are undoubtedly marked by outrage over the behavior of Senator Menia (Brothers of Italy)—who verbally assaulted a gay couple at the airport—and the approval of the Valditara bill two days ago. "It is deeply disturbing," says Arcigay Secretary General Gabriele Piazzoni, "that a senator of the Republic is behaving like a street bully. The incident involving Senator Menia is not a private matter: it is the symptom of a decline. And it is paralleled by the approval of the Valditara Bill: a law that effectively abandons younger LGBTQIA+ people to bullying, depriving schools of the tools to educate respect. The right is consistently pursuing this political line: it normalizes hatred in government offices and fuels it in the streets. A senator who censors a same-sex couple in public spaces and a government that passes liberticidal laws. This is the political project of those who govern us: to take us back. But today we are in eight Italian squares. From Ancona to Turin, from Lipari to Viterbo. And our response is clear: we will not stop. We will not allow hatred to become law, and we will not allow a senator to feel authorized to bully those who love differently," concludes Piazzoni.
