Bologna, June 11, 2026 – Arcigay was also present (together with Japan Alliance for LGBT legislation from Japan, Egide from France, Kaleidoscope Trust from the United Kingdom and Ilga world) in the delegation of Pride7, the new engagement group admitted for the first time to the French G7 2026, which met with President Emmanuel Macron yesterday. Pride7—which includes LGBTQIA+ associations from the G7 countries and other European and global developing countries—is calling on the governments of major democracies to make binding commitments to the rights of LGBTQIA+ people in all policies, starting with development cooperation. The Pride7 delegation also included Roberto Muzzetta, delegate for international relations in the national secretariat of Arcigay.
The statement released by Pride7, addressed to the leaders' summit in France, denounces how, in a global context marked by authoritarianism and war, LGBTQIA+ people continue to suffer violence, discrimination, and invisibility in aid policies, even when such aid is funded by G7 countries. The organizations are calling for the inclusion of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) in the G7's final communiqués, as well as in laws and programs on democracy, international cooperation, climate, the economy, and health.
Among the G7's key demands: laws against discrimination and violence, legal recognition of gender identity based on self-determination, equal marriage, protection of intersex people from unnecessary medical interventions, protection of freedom of expression and assembly—starting with Pride events—and political and financial support for LGBTQIA+ organizations in the most at-risk contexts. Pride7 also calls for cooperation not to be used as a tool for political pressure but to remain grounded in human rights, explicitly include sexual and reproductive rights, and be equipped with data and indicators capable of measuring the impact on LGBTQIA+ people.
In the area of peace and security, the document draws attention to LGBTQIA+ people in conflicts and humanitarian crises—from Afghanistan to Ukraine, from Sudan to Palestine—calling for protection for those fleeing persecution based on sexual orientation and gender identity and for a truly inclusive implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. In the health sector, Pride7 calls for structural investments in the fight against HIV, mental health, universal access to services, and legal recognition of all families, including same-sex families.
To continue this work, Pride7 requested and was recognized as an official G7 engagement group, alongside Women7, Civil7, and Youth7, ensuring a stable presence of LGBTQIA+ voices in the decision-making processes of the world's major democracies.

A first important result was achieved in Matera, when Pride7 was cited in the ministerial declaration on rights. Yesterday, in Paris, another historic step was taken: Pride7, of which Arcigay is a member, was officially recognized as a G7 reference network. During the meeting at the Élysée Palace dedicated to the 13 G7 Engagement Groups, the Pride7 delegation presented its Communiqué to the French President, in his capacity as President of the G7, outlining the main priorities of the international LGBTQIA+ community.
