Rainbow List in the student elections

An openly gay candidate is leading the list in the student elections on May 22nd and 23rd. For the first time in our university's history, a list is presenting itself that champions equal opportunities, including sexual ones.

In collaboration with the Arcigay Tralaltro club, the "Rainbow List" is entering the upcoming university elections, led by Fabio Saccà, 20, head of the Arcigay youth group, a Communication Sciences student and the top candidate.

«"It will be a great battle," Saccà comments. "The issue of equal opportunities has never concerned the University. We will challenge all students: to build a university that offers respect and care, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or minority affiliation. We will convince students to stand up for rights, for a university for all." Received coldly by some faculty, the Rainbow List is supported by left-wing students, by "Students in Movement," and by the Student Union. Fabio Saccà explains: "We know we will be ostracized and that the faculty is very hostile to the project, but that won't stop us.".

Along with Saccà, the candidates for the Lista Arcobaleno are Francesca Vidotto, 22, Angela Barison, 21, and Valentina Codemo, 22. Alessandro Zan, President of the Arcigay Circle, comments: "An openly gay candidate in the student elections is something new. But it's also the symbol of a new concept of equal opportunities. A gay man who comes out serves to break established patterns and demonstrate the pride of fighting for respect for rights.".
