Legacoop and Arcigay have signed the following protocol aimed at establishing a stable and structured collaboration between their organizations. Here is the text of the protocol:
Memorandum of Understanding between Legacoop and Arcigay APS
For the promotion of a fair and representative reception of people LGBTI+ in contrast to direct and indirect discrimination motivated by sexual orientation and/or gender identity and for the construction of safe cooperative environments
Premise
Work is a fundamental part of people's lives and represents not only a productive space, but a context for relationships, social recognition, and identity building. These environments define opportunities, rights, security, and the possibility of personal and professional growth.
For this reason, Legacoop and Arcigay APS (hereinafter referred to as Arcigay) recognize the need to promote safe, welcoming, and inclusive work environments, in which everyone can freely express their sexual orientation, gender identity, and individuality, without fear of discrimination or penalization.
Legacoop, in keeping with its values of cooperation, social justice, and the dignity of work, and Arcigay, committed to promoting rights and combating discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity, share the belief that promoting diversity in the workplace is an essential social and organizational responsibility.
Safety, dignity, and full personal expression are essential conditions for individual well-being and the quality of professional relationships. However, for many LGBTI+ people, the workplace can still be a space marked by invisibility, stereotypes, and discrimination that impact their quality of life and professional opportunities. These conditions can lead to self-censorship and limit full participation, with negative effects on the organizational climate and the ability of organizations to innovate and grow.
Prejudice, discriminatory language, and exclusionary practices contribute to creating structural inequalities.
Counteracting these dynamics means protecting people and promoting a broader cultural change in line with the principles and values of cooperative identity (Manchester, 1995).
For this reason, Legacoop and Arcigay, through this Memorandum of Understanding, intend to develop a structured collaboration aimed at promoting training, consultancy, awareness-raising, and operational tools for building welcoming work environments that foster the visibility and well-being of all people equally.
The Parties recognize that a culture of diversity contributes to improving working conditions, promoting the well-being of workers, strengthening organizational cohesion, and supporting more equitable growth of the cooperative system and society.
