On March 31, 2012, at 12 noon, in the Reception Room of Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, our partners Giovanni and Stefano will fulfill their dream of love by joining together under the Civil Partnership Act, in the presence of friends and relatives.
The Provincial Committee, along with all its members of Genoa Arcigay L'Approdo, wishes them both every joy and a long and peaceful life together.
However, this happy occasion doesn't stop us from questioning a legislative gap that forces us to organize group trips to get married.
A recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Cassation also recognized our right to equal treatment with that enjoyed by heterosexual couples, urging legislators to fill the legal gap that still separates us from full citizenship.
How much longer will we have to wait to see our friends get married here among us, showing their happiness and love in the places where it was born, affirming their desire to live together in our language? Italy is also a beautiful place to say "I do.".
And it should become the same for us too.
