The Rome Euro Pride 2011 Committee and Universal Music Italia are pleased to announce Lady Gaga's participation in the final parade of Euro Pride, which will take place on Saturday, June 11th at the Circus Maximus in Rome.
Lady Gaga has established herself as the most successful pop star of recent years, with staggering numbers even according to modern popularity indicators, such as 37 million Facebook fans and hundreds of millions of views on her YouTube videos. Her new album, Born This Way, is currently at number one in twenty-seven countries worldwide.
At the invitation of the Rome Euro Pride 2011 Committee – also thanks to the interest of the United States Ambassador to Italy David Thorne, to whom we extend our thanks – Lady Gaga has decided to participate in Euro Pride: a further confirmation of her support for the cause of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community.
Euro Pride is Europe's most significant international gay pride event, and each year it celebrates a different European capital city. Rome Euro Pride 2011 is promoted by Arcigay, Circolo Mario Mieli, AGEDO (Association of Parents, Relatives, and Friends of Homosexuals), Famiglie Arcobaleno (Association of Homosexual Parents), and MIT (Transsexual Identity Movement), and features several events scheduled in Rome from June 1st to 11th.
