Enough with the fake news about the Zan bill

For months, fake news has been circulating about the ZAN bill, polluting the debate in the Senate.
Through the social media campaign #LeggeZansenzatagli, Arcigay has decided to clarify some points of the law that are being exploited and misrepresented by those who oppose the law or seek to destroy it.

Each card is dedicated to a theme. We invite you to share them on your social media!

Recognizing protections for LGBT+ people and people with disabilities through the Zan Law does not take away women's rights.

The Zan Law only punishes incitement and violence motivated by sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability.

The Zan Law provides for positive actions to promote inclusion and combat discrimination. For example, it establishes the World Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (May 17), which commemorates the date in 1990 when the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses.

The Zan Law does not deal with gender affirmation processes (for this there is law 164/82) but introduces gender identity among the personal conditions that could be subject to violence and discrimination and that require protection.

The Zan Law extends the existing crimes of incitement and violence based on racial, ethnic, national, or religious grounds to LGBT+ people, women, and people with disabilities.
